WHAT IS A PARISH NURSE?

Parish Nursing balances the knowledge and skills of a qualified nurse
with the faith and practice of the local church.
The Parish Nurse works with the members of the local church.
Parish nursing believes that spiritual health is central to well being.
Parish Nursing believes in the sacredness of all people and values them with
    dignity and respect.

The Parish nurse assists and empowers individuals to become more active partners
in the management of their personal health resources.

A Parish Nurse has a duty to maintain full and accurate records of the care
    provided to you;
keep records about you confidential, secure and accurate; and provide
information; in a format that is accessible to you .

A Parish Nurse works alongside the local church as part of that church community.

HOW CAN THE PARISH NURSE HELP?
    The Parish Nurse can:
    • Offer support and a listening ear.
    • Help you see the link between faith and health.
    • Help you understand your disease or condition.
    • Refer you on to your GP and other healthcare professionals as appropriate.
    • Connect you with community services and resources.
    • Provide information on healthcare topics.
    • Take your blood pressure.

       WHO IS IT FOR?
It is for people of all faiths and none!
Although it is firmly rooted in a Christian understanding of health and wholeness,
it is offered unconditionally. Parish Nurses do not put pressure on clients to
    change their religion.
